In The Spotlight
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

There has been a great deal of analysis written on this particular story. Over the years it has struck a chord with people who cherish their literary inheritance and abhor censorship in any of its many forms. A TV drama and several movies have been based on the book over the years, but I recommend reading the novel to get the “story” directly from one of our finest authors.
Other books by Ray Bradbury are: The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Green Shadows, White Whales, and The Illustrated Man (a collection of short stories)
Other Books I’ve Read this Month
The Treasure Keeper by Shana Abe
This is the fourth entry in Ms. Abe’s drakon series. The drakon are an ancient race of dragons who take human form and live in the world of humans. The race is nearly extinct from being hunted since the beginning of time. In Ms. Abe’s world the dragons of Darkfirth discover their cousins in the Carpathian mountains of Transylvania and though they harbor suspicions of each other they combine their talents to seek out and destroy the latest threat to their race.
All of the books in this series are written with in a graceful, spellbinding style that is filled with sights, scents, and the tastes of life and love. The stories are thrilling and magical. The other books in this series are: The Smoke Thief, The Dream Thief, and Queen of the Dragons.

Watch Me, Stop Me, Dead Right by Brenda Novak
Brenda Novak writes romantic suspense novels that keep you guessing to the end. The first two books, Watch Me and Stop Me, are from a trilogy that features the founders of The Last Stand, a charity that supports and aids crimes victims. I’m looking forward to reading the third book in the “set,” Trust Me.
In a second trilogy, Ms. Novak tells the chilling story of crimes committed years ago and how the evil has touched the lives of the families involved. The books in this trilogy are Dead Right, Dead Silence, and Dead Giveaway. More good reading waiting for me.
Promises in Death by J. D. Robb

In more than thirty books, Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb has developed the characters in the “In Death” series. Eve Dallas, NYPD Homicide Detective in the year 205? is called upon to solve one homicide after another. From the beginning of the series we are entertained with the twenty-first century crime solving tools that are available to Eve her partner, Peabody, and the rest of the police department. You can always depend on Eve’s husband, Roarke, to get the impossible information through his computer expertise, and to provide Eve with the support she needs. I love these books.

The Host is Ms. Meyer’s first novel since the wildly popular Twilight series. There are no vampires or shape shifters in this book. The story, however, is as well written and fantastic as her previous books. In this book the main character is a beautiful young lady who is part of a group resisting the invasion of aliens who “take over the bodies” of the human race. The twist here is that the invading “soul” makes friends with the consciousness of the woman whose body she has invaded. As the “soul” begins to share her host’s memories and emotions she comes to wonder if her race is truly making the human race better as she has been trained to believe. If you enjoy stories of mankind’s struggle to grow and exist in a broader universe, then you will enjoy The Host.
Give yourself a gift, Read a book.
